You have to tap the sides into the wall in a case like this and you have to brace the middle upper with a 45 degree 2 x 4, toenail and double block so it doesn't slide out. And shoot blocks on the bottom edge so it doesn't bust at the seams. IMO Cinderblock with rebar filled is a lot less risky.
